Astrology is crazy
I doubt the power of stellar constellations in my life. But I do believe in the power of inspiration. So I don’t know if it was foretold by Uranus that I’ll find my way into a Jan Švankmajer exhibition, but I did and I got inspired to illustrate this series of Zodiac signs. And even though we know better, don’t we all feel attached to our own sign?
Like Švankmajer I was fascinated by the medieval bestiares and zoological studies of animals. Where you can find detailed descriptions of all kinds of animals, monsters and instructions of how to catch and feed unicorns.
This fantastic world just seemed to be the right place for my zodiacs, so I took these fantastic beasts and created even more surrealistic collages according to my own perception of the different signs. By the way: Watch out – I’m capricorn.
